I signed up for an amazing workshop with American Photo Treks. We met in Lake George, CO at 11:30pm on Friday 5/15/15 and drove out to some predetermined spots around Eleven Mile Reservoir. The clouds seemed to disappear as we set up our gear and made for an amazing night of shooting.

Lovely photograph – it’s hard to get away from light pollution! Thank you for taking the time to read OldPlaidCamper, I appreciate it. Enjoy your day!

Beautiful shots!! I will be in Lake George in 2 weeks and am planning some Milky Way photos there and in RMNP near Estes Park. What time was the photo actually taken? I’m trying to determine the optimal time for viewing the Galactic Center in August. 10PM-1AM?
Thanks!

Mario, this photo was taken at 2am….the core broke the horizon around 11pm-12am that night. Check the moon phase for your trip, rise and set, but you should definitely be able to see it after the moon sets. I use two apps on my phone to help me with my shots, TPE and Sky Guide. Have a good trip!
